The T.V reported and published that two young brothers were killed on 16 AUGUST 2010 and their bodies were hung upside down in a public square in Sialkot while polices watched. Geo News was the first channel to air this news. The airing of video footage regarding the torture on two young brothers in Sialkot got Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudary to take a sou moto notice against such a crime.
It was further reported by Geo News that the DPO of Sialkot Waqar Chauhan who is said to have witnessed the crime is ordered to appear in Supreme Court of Pakistan. Moreover, the Lahore High Court has also taken sou moto notice of the tragedy.
It was reported that the vigilants kept on beating the two young brother for hours and at least 8 police officers stood watching such violence. The two brothers could not survive and their dead bodies were hanged in the chowkee of Sialkot.
The Deputy Commissioner Sialkot said that the victims were killed as they injured 4 people in a cricket match dispute. The uncle of these two brother said that his nephews were tortured for a couple of hours and there was no one to stop this violence, not even the police officers.
Express Tribune reported that the two brothers, 18-year-old Moiz Butt and 16-year-old Muneeb Butt, were beaten to death by a mob after an alleged theft and murder in Sialkot on August 16.
Conflicting reports suggested that the victims had been involved in a robbery and murder that took place on Sunday, ET report said.
“Later the police have admitted the teenagers had no criminal record, and that they had been killed due to enmity.”
Fourteen police men including an SHO has been suspended and further investigations are being done. CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudary said that such brutal killings in front of Police was the peak of breaking law. The Supreme Court has suspended the DPO of Sialkot as he was unable to stop such violence.
Whether it was robbery, a cricket match dispute or enmity, it was brutal and wrong anyway. So far as the police is concerned, its indeed a shame as they could see everything and still did nothing to stop it. Apparently, it seems like police itslef was involved in it as usual. To be honest here, we should be ready for such even more incidents. Because as far as our law doesn’t work well or until theres a smile on the leader’s face despite of all these tragedies, we will keep on facing such disasters. Our law enforcement is either sleeping or getting paid for all these incidents in Pakistan.
